Fixies are becoming more popular as more people discover the joy of riding single speed bikes and fixed gear road bikes One of our all time best sellers has been updated for 2013 with new colors Assembly took me about 2 hours because I had no idea what I was doing (I've never dealt with bikes other than riding them prior to this) but it was SO much fun and it's a great feeling to put it together yourself. The bike comes as a single speed and I'd rather keep it as this than converting it to fixed gear (which is a pretty cool feature might I say) because I prefer to coast. When assembling, make sure to look up videos on how to properly fit the bike to your comfort needs, i.e. how high the seat should be, how far back the seat should be, etc.

A bike my size with no brands. After being assembled, you can start tearing up the streets as a single-speed or a fixed-gear. I prefer pounding the pedals on single-speed as a safety measure.(stop pedaling and check my surroundings.) Anyways, you get what you pay for. Yes, the pedals, the brakes, and the seat feels kinda cheap. So what? Replace them to your liking. I plan to fix this bike up to how I want it. I might not do it all in one-go but until that day, I just can't help myself but be excited. For me, this will be a gradual and in the end, a rewarding experience. I'm very satisfied with what I have, especially as a new biker. If you want your first bike to really call your own, get it!

Schwinn Ridge AL Women's Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels)

It is light enough and has a decent build. It has all the features you'd want: 21-speeds (7 back, 3 in the front) quick-release brakes, wheels and seat, thumb and trigger-finger gear shifters, shimano brand quality derailleur, and a decent front shock.

The bike comes in a box and there is some assembly required, but nothing too advanced. Basically you have to attach the handle bars, pedals and front tire for which you'll need an allen key and a socket wrench.

The front shock is little more than a spring (I'm not sure there's any dampening going on there at all), but it gets the job done. The brakes are excellent -- as close as you'll get to disc brakes for this price. I did have to tune up the rear derailleur though because it was skipping.


They must use a different aluminum in this one then their other bikes carried by Wal-Mart cause those were all a bit heavier. It's an easy bike to lift up on my roof racks.

- Once tuned-up, the v-brakes are strong

 I always used a men's style Pugeot racing bike but have adapted easily to this style. The middle bar isn't too high or too low and is great for stopping/standing. The kick stand is a definitely plus for my smoke breaks. I good chain or wheel lock is best. Yes, I'd recommend this to a friend or anyone who wants to ride!

 The Diamondback Response Sport is a very good value in a hardtail mountain bike as you are getting a relatively high end frame design with mid range components. The modified top tube design is a strengthen design borrowed from higher end Diamondback models and similar to some Specialized bikes.

The bike arrives mostly assembled, but plan to spend a full Saturday afternoon to correctly reset the derailer travel limits and align the front caliper if you do not take it to a local shop for a professional tune up. Finally, if you want to do distance riding, the bike is wholly inappropriate. The riding stance and the tire thickness would make this bike (or any mountain bike) a poor choice for anyone other than the most fit athlete out there.

This bike is good looking and you can't beat the price. You will need to take a some time to put it together and double check everything.  My advice is buy a decent pair with your order, and higher quality brakes if you live in the green mountains.

 The bike, after assembled, needed some adjustments to the brakes and gears. I fully expected this to be the case. The bike rides very nice and is very comfortable. I mention the need for adjustment because all bikes require this when assembled. When you buy a bike already assembled, those adjustments are already done. Unfortunately, the directions are not that clear on making those adjustments. Also, the packaging is not adequate for shipping. The box was heavily damaged but the was okay.
